In 1975, our founding member John Collard, a mining engineer by trade, with countless years’ experience in the industrial fan industry, fulfilled his vision of establishing an independent industrial fan institution in South Africa.

He identified a need for an expanded range of fans to become available in Southern Africa, and partnered with Chicago Blower, a leading fan design and manufacturing company in the USA, to become their Southern African licensee, which entitled Rand Blower to the sole market rights to their products, including access to all of their technical knowledge and information.

With a growing customer base, and the importance of a family values driven business, John’s son Athol joined Rand Blower in 1984, and with him brought the knowledge and experience of a BSc in Mechanical engineering. As they grew, they took on another young engineer, Rudi Visser who has worked his way up and is now a part owner. The family legacy grew to a third generation when Terence, a civil engineer who then worked for WBHO, joined the business in 2016. They have continued John’s vision since his passing in 2006.

With over 41 years experience, Rand Blower never remains stagnant, and have we identified a number of additional products and services outside of the Chicago Blower licenced products, and have added these to our portfolio, a testament to our “finger on the pulse” approach to the industries we service.
